Search results don't seem to have any real sense of order (my current search results have 251, 0, 0, 111, 0, and 1117 votes and include 3 different development statuses). I think admins should be able to determine the default sort criteria for Search results and users should be able to toggle between different orders. Some examples would include, sort by: votes/popularity, activity (most comments), category, date ...more »
If moderators could always view the category field as a drop-down everywhere in the UI instead of a link (thereby skipping the 'edit idea' step), that would increase the efficiency of organizing ideas. Editing miscategorized ideas just to give them in the correct label is a huge time sink, currently.
To encourage more discussion and allow users to easily track the ideas they're interested in, it would be helpful to enhance the current activity stream on a user's profile or otherwise direct users to updates from within IdeaScale (without bouncing between it and email to follow updates). I think there's a relatively simple way and a more complex way of implementing this solution. 1) Simple - Since all events (votes, ...more »
It would be much easier for a moderator to update idea states if there were bulk actions that could be performed. For example, in moderator view, each idea on a page of 25, 50, etc. ideas would have a checkbox, with a corresponding link at the top and bottom of each page to check/uncheck all. The moderator could then select a status from a drop-down to apply to all checked ideas, thereby mass-moderating a group of comments ...more »
I'd like to configure different reporting thresholds, as ideas are more visible than comments and thus receive different volume of abuse reports.
I don't know exactly what the current threshold is that causes 'active' ideas to turn into 'pending' ideas, but I'd like to configure this in the same way that reported comments appear in the admin panel.
Reporting abuse would be more helpful for moderators if users were able to specify the exact issue they have encountered. It'd be great if users could report an idea or comment as [spam/abuse, duplicate, miscategorized/off-topic]. If the reported queues had filters for each of these different cases, they would be much more manageable then one large queue of items that has been reported for various reasons.
Ideas 'in review' and 'in progress' will appear in Search results, but it would also be great if they would display in Popular/Hot/Recent tabs (if they fit the other admin-specified criteria). Commonly, users will view the default tab (e.g. popular), not see a popular idea that is already in progress and attempt to submit a duplicate. I think showing any open ideas that have not yet been closed/completed in these tabs ...more »
Moderators should not have to change the status of an idea just to comment on it when it isn't in an interactive state (pending, completed, closed, etc.) If I'm moving an idea directly from pending to completed, I'd like to bypass moving the idea to 'Active' just to comment before changing it to 'Completed'.
As a moderator, I've blacklisted certain commonly-duplicated terms to immediately send some ideas to the moderation queue. Unfortunately, 'pending' ideas aren't returned when I search for those specific terms, which makes bulk managing/merging of redundant/miscategorized ideas more complicated than it would be if they did appear here.
I've encountered a few different bugs on the leaderboards so far: 1) When moderators delete comments, users can have 'negative' comments on the leaderboard. 0 is the obvious min # for this. 2) Long names aren't truncated and create overlapping text in the UI. 3) Users are still awarded points when their ideas are deleted, which means spammers can easily dominate the leaderboards- certainly not something you want ...more »
It would be really helpful if you could modify the left sidebar by adding custom widgets, fields, buttons, etc., then choose what order to vertically stack them. For example, I would like to move the tag cloud directly below 'Categories', insert a custom 'polls' widget via embed code and add some custom buttons to direct users to other certain places. Basically, similar customization options for this module as the ...more »
