How do you envision using IdeaScale primarily?

For repeat visitors, it would be helpful to get a list of ideas sorted by the most recent comments. That way you can check in and see what's been said since your last visit.
I'd like to stay permanently logged in when I visit Ideascale. Seems I need to re-login every day. I assume the site uses cookies, so my suggestion is to increase the lifetime of the cookies.

Maybe there is a setting for this somewhere already?
I don't see the login link anymore, was this removed on purpose?
When I edited my header, I received this error message:

[show] java.io.FileNotFoundException: /akira/jsp/home/index.jsp
Create a simpler version of Single Sign on. SAML looks like a lot of work if you don't have it setup already.

Here's how I've done this with other websites. You go to their site and input the location of an Authentication URL, with the understanding that username and password will be passed as requests.

The Authentication URL script simply prints 1 to the screen for successful login, 0 for unsuccessful.

There should be a way to search for existing ideas. My Ideascale is over 100 ideas at this point, it can be tough to tell if an idea has been submitted already without a lot of looking around.

That might be a similar way to accomplish basically the same thing.

I like this idea. Here's two I'd like to add to my Statuses: "Bad Idea" and "Duplicate Idea"

Bad Idea would be used for ideas that are suggested that we simply would never do. Maybe the idea isn't technically feasible, or whatever reason, we've decided it can't or won't be done.

Would be helpful for the users to see this list.

"One complication I see is that users can create their new ideas and immediately vote on them. At what point would the "cost" be added to the idea, and how would that affect votes that have already been cast?"

I thought about this. Two options I could come up with. Either an idea can't be voted on until a Moderator Assigns a cost. Or all new ideas are given the "max cost" set by the Admin.

Which brings up another complication - what happens if you allow the Moderator to change the cost after it has been set? It shouldn't be a problem if the cost is lowered. But if the cost is raised, you'd have to do some maneuvering.

Two ways you could go on this. If cost is raised on an idea, cancel all votes that don't have enough chips left in the bank to cover the increased cost. Or you simply don't allow the cost to ever be raised.

I'd like to add another feature to this idea that I think would be very helpful. What if different ideas "cost" more to vote for? For example, we use our ideascale so that our users can vote on which features we develop next - pretty much what you guys use it for.

Some ideas take 10 or 100 times more development effort than others. It would be great to capture this information in the voting. For example, one idea might cost 3 points to vote for, while another one costs 30 points. This allows us to see whether the user wants us to develop 10 easy feature or 1 hard feature.

It is simdynasty.ideascale.com

Maybe it is because I am the Admin? I'm not sure if my users have this problem or not, nobody has complained about it yet.

On my instance of Ideascale, I have to login every hour or so to vote up/down items. Strangely, it didn't ask me to login just now on your instance of ideascale when I went to post this comment.

I can understand why you don't want to store cookies for the Admin area, but there isn't any credit card stuff in the regular user area, right?

Windows Vista and Chrome.

The edit actually saved, so it's not a huge deal.

I haven't figured out the Chrome JS Console yet, at least not how to grab error messages like you can in FireFox. If you can tell me how, I'll look for JS errors for you.

Thanks, I didn't realize it.

I've been pouring over the documentation this morning and the admin area and don't see anything about how to add this. Can you help point me in the right direction?

My ideascale tracks different development ideas for our software product. Users know we can only work on so many things and have no idea how much effort some of the ideas would require. It would be helpful to have a custom field that we could put "Development Effort" info into.
